This book came about in my teaching years. Sometimes, young writers limit their writing to what they can spell. I wrote this book to encourage the most inhibited writers to have a go without worrying about spelling. As Tigger was magic, he could read anything. I used to ask them what their letter said, so I would know how to reply if I couldn't read all the words, and they always knew exactly what they had written. He always replied - sometimes it took me all evening, but it was worth it. Whenever necessary, we could say to those children 'Write like you did when you wrote to Tigger - just put down what you want to say.' It helped them become more confident as writers. Dear old Tigger. The children always wanted him to visit, but I had to say he was too old and liked to stay at home. They sent him presents - he was given a lovely pair of sunglasses for when he was lying in the garden. Lorraine Dawes
